Dr Louise Newson is a GP and pioneering Menopause Specialist who is immensely passionate about increasing awareness and knowledge of perimenopause and menopause, and campaigns for better menopause care for all women. She runs the world’s largest menopause clinic, where she reinvests most profits to fund ground-breaking research and provide free menopause resources to millions of people worldwide, including the balance app – the world’s largest menopause library which has been downloaded nearly 1 million times in over 200 countries. She is also my mother.
I feel incredibly blessed not only to know Dr Louise Newson, but also Mrs Louise Anderson: the woman behind the global revolution in women’s healthcare and medicine.
The woman I know is always just a phone call away, knows exactly how I’m feeling without me having to say anything, and gives all the time she has for her family. She is the woman who has taught me so much about unconditional love, who has a beautiful relationship with my father, and who chose to shape her career in such a way so that she could be with me every day as I was growing up. She is the woman who spent her days playing with me and my younger sister, her nights reading stories to us, and who was in the front row of every school concert, every school play.
I have never known anyone who is such an advocate for what she knows is right, who works with such genuine kindness and heartfelt authenticity, with such beautiful and pure intentions. I am so grateful for the beautiful grounding and support my mother has provided for me and I feel inspired by her every single day, and know that I will be for the rest of my life.
